摘要

本論文的目的在於仔細觀察美國現代主義繪畫先驅者阿席爾．高爾基的許多自畫像，並且小心地閱讀他的私人信件，甚至於深入探討他所採用的「假名」，結果是，我發現了藝術家有意利用這些自畫像來強調他本人的精神性，他的智慧的一面，甚至於他的遠見。

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to look closely into Arshile Gorky's self-portraits and a careful reading of his personal letters, even his pseudonyms, and I find that the artist was intentionally using the self-portraits to stress the intellectual aspect of his self-image and above all his superior vision.
